Netflix presented the first trailer for the upcoming sci-fi drama Johan Renck The Astronaut. starring Adam Sandler, Carey Mulligan and Paul Dano. The film will debut on the streaming platform on March 1.
Renck is known for directing the historical drama miniseries HBO Chernobyl, which chronicles the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear power plant explosion and its aftermath. Sandler continues her relationship with Netflix after the success of the coming-of-age comedy You’re not invited to my bat mitzvah!starring him and his daughters.
What The Astronaut is about
The official synopsis for “Spaceman” reads: “Six months into a lonely research mission to the edge of the solar system, an astronaut, Jakub (Sandler), realizes that the marriage he left behind might not be waiting for him when he returns. to the earth. Desperate to fix things with his wife, Lenka (Mulligan), he is helped by a mysterious creature from the beginning of time that he finds hidden in the bowels of his ship. Hanuš (voiced by Paul Dano) works with Jakub to make sense of what went wrong before it’s too late.”
The astronaut also stars Kunal Nayyar, Lena Olin and Isabella Rossellini.
Colby Day wrote the screenplay, based on the 2017 novel “Spaceman of Bohemia” by the Czech author Jaroslav Kalfa. The film is executive produced by Ben Ormand, Johan Renck and Barry Bernardi. Producers include Channing Tatum, Reid Carolin, Peter Kiernan, Michael Parets, Tim Headington, Lia Buman and Max Silva.
