Memorial ceremony for Franz Beckenbauer: These guests have announced themselves

Numerous famous personalities and companions will attend the memorial service for Franz Beckenbauer.

German and international personalities from sports and politics, along with thousands of fans, will pay their last respects to the late Franz Beckenbauer (1945-2024) next Friday. On January 19th, FC Bayern Munich will hold a memorial service in the Allianz Arena from 3 p.m., which will also be broadcast on TV. The club has now announced which guests will take part in the ceremony.

From the Federal Chancellor to the club legend

As was already known, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (65) will be the first to arrive. In addition to him, politicians will also be there, including Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier (68) and Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (57). Also expected are former Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber (82), the Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (67) and Charlotte Knobloch (91), President of the Jewish Community of Munich and Upper Bavaria.

Many of Beckenbauer’s companions and stars are expected, particularly from the football world – including many from the club’s orbit. Not only will the players from the current Bayern professional teams be present, but also club legends and former players such as Franz “Bulle” Roth (77), Bastian Schweinsteiger (39), Philipp Lahm (40), Michael Ballack (47 ), Miroslav Klose (45), Bixente Lizarazu (54) and Willy Sagnol (46).

World champions and sports legends

From Beckenbauer’s world champion colleagues and protégés from 1974 and 1990, Uli Hoeneß (72), Günter Netzer (79), Paul Breitner (72), Wolfgang Overath (80), Lothar Matthäus (62), Olaf, among others, paid tribute to the deceased Thon (57), Rudi Völler (63) and Andreas Brehme (63) the last honors. Last but not least, numerous coaching colleagues such as Otto Rehhagel (85), Hansi Flick (58), Felix Magath (70), Matthias Sammer (56) and the incumbent national coach Julian Nagelsmann (36) will be present.

Delegations and representatives from other clubs are also expected – including FC Barcelona, ​​VfB Stuttgart and Hamburger SV as well as Real Madrid.
