The Association of Artisanal Ice Cream and Related Manufacturers (AFADHYA) and the Federation of Pastry Workers He traveled this Tuesday together with the National selectionled by its Captain and Master Ice Cream Maker, Eduardo Zacaria; and integrated by professionals Alberto Alegre, Corina Cambón, Rubén Darré and Santiago Nieto.


All of them will compete alongside the rest of the finalist countries: Germany, Brazil, China, North Korea, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Singapore, Taiwan. Furthermore, the president of AFADHYA, Maximilian Maccarronewill be a member of the World Cup Honor Committee.

This competition is carried out within the framework of the 45th edition of the renowned fair SIGEP. In its last edition, and with an unprecedented result, the Argentine group obtained the 3rd placeafter Italy and Japan. In that contest, the Argentina was the winner of the test “Mystery Box” with the award for most innovative ice cream in the world.
In this frame, maccarrone express: “In Argentina we undoubtedly have one of the best Artisan Ice Cream in the world and in these competitions it continues to be demonstrated. Artisan Ice Cream is an ambassador of our gastronomy and all the work and journey traveled over the years allowed the Argentine team to measure itself, once again, against the greatest master ice cream makers worldwide.”
And he added that “Participation in this event, typical of the international ice cream elite, constitutes an opportunity for training and learning to continue strengthening ourselves as specialists in the field. We are proud of our artisanal ice cream, of our master ice cream makers and we hope to achieve very good results”.

Artisanal Ice Cream World Cup: what are the tests of the contest?
During the contest there will be competitions that will evaluate the performance and skills in different modalities. In total, they will be five different challenges spanning from salty ice cream entrees for haute cuisine, ice cream snack, ice cream cake, decorated bacha, single portion in glasseven surprise tests “mystery box” and artistic pieces such as ice, chocolate and candy sculpture.
Eduardo Zacaríathe team captain, commented: “After the last Latin American Artisanal Ice Cream Cup in 2022 in which we became champions, we feel stronger as a team. We had more than a year of arduous preparation and intense work that helped the discovery and development of the theme, the flavors and the combination of ingredients. Always relying on the exchange of ideas with professional pastry chefs and ice cream makers, and considering innovation and various trends as pillars. “We trust in our work and hope to represent the country in the best way.”

National Artisan Ice Cream Selection: who is part of the team
- Eduardo Zacaria (54 years old), from Coronel Brandsen (Province of Buenos Aires), is Master Ice Cream Maker, and current Captain, coordinator and motivator of the national team, current Latin American Champion of Artisanal Ice Cream.
- Alberto Alegre (42 years old), from the City of Buenos Aires, is a specialist in artistic chocolate. His role in the team is as a chocolate structure sculptor. It is the first time that he will participate in an international competition as a member of the national team.
- Corina Cambón (37 years old), from Pontevedra (PBA), is a Professional Pastry Chef and will perform in the candy sculpture challenge within the competition. She also participates for the first time in the national team.
- Rubén Darré (50 years old), from the City of Buenos Aires, is a Chef, teacher and gastronomic advisor. At the Ice Cream World Cup, he will work in ice sculpture and salty dishes. He is two-time Latin American champion of Artisan Ice Cream and 3rd place in the Gelato World Cup 2020.
- Santiago Nieto (40 years old), from San Juan, is a Master Ice Cream Maker. His role on the team will be making and molding ice cream. He is the current Argentine and Latin American champion of Artisan Ice Cream.
