The arteBA Foundation and Pinamar SA sealed an alliance and founded the ambitious Pinamar Prize #2254. The initiative aims to encourage research and the link between contemporary art, nature and urban planning. In this first edition, the guest curator is Solana Molina Viamonte, director of Móvil, who will accompany the selection process and the realization of the finalist project.

In dialogue with this newspaper, Molina Viamonte clarifies that #2254 is the prefix of Pinamar and relates the long-term objectives of the venture: “It is a project that begins now and aims to conclude within 20 years, for the celebration of the 100 years of the Pinamar foundation. With this horizon, this edition is the first of many and, to begin with, we aspire for contemporary artists to present unpublished projects to be located or developed in the new Pinamar incubator.”
There, in the nursery, the trees will continue to be planted, as has been done since the founding of Pinamar because they allow the dunes to be fixed. Artists will find a greenhouse with several native species and an amphitheater, to promote activity in their surroundings.
“We hope that the projects are varied and surprising,” adds Molina Viamonte. We believe that a special incentive for artists, apart from the award itself, is that over time their projects will be part of an ecosystem with contemporary works that will surely arouse the interest of the local community and tourism.”
The selection jury is made up of: Eduardo Basualdo, Mónica Girón, Florencia Battiti, the urban planner Martín Bodas and the businessman Enrique Shaw. Molina Viamonte points out: “The five pre-selected artists will receive $1,000 to develop their proposal in depth, they have my curatorial support in addition to that of the team designated by arteBA and the Pinamar SA team.
The prize winner will receive $15,000 and Pinamar SA will cover all production expenses.” For the final stage, as in the previous one, the chosen one will have my curatorial advice and the team. It is hoped that the work can be inaugurated in the summer of 2025.
