91-year-old Richard Lugner has a cold. But he drags himself out of bed for the press conference to introduce his Opera Ball guest – and he has a famous name up his sleeve.
The actress Priscilla Presley accompanies the Austrian entrepreneur Richard “Mörtel” Lugner to the Vienna Opera Ball. The 91-year-old Lugner announced this at a press conference in Vienna. “Her husband was a famous singer,” Lugner said. Priscilla Presley was married to Elvis Presley for six years. A film about the relationship between the two is currently in cinemas. The 78-year-old Presley said in a short video that she was very happy about the invitation and the opportunity to visit the famous opera ball.
Since 1992, the entrepreneur has often paid high-profile celebrities to accompany him to the opera ball in a way that would attract media attention. The top social event in Austria with around 5,000 guests takes place on February 8th. Last year, Lugner attended the ball with actress and activist Jane Fonda.
Priscilla Presley was married to rock ‘n’ roll legend Elvis from 1967 to 1973. The two met in Bad Nauheim in 1959, when Priscilla was only 14 years old. Elvis was ten years older and did military service in Hesse, Priscilla’s stepfather was stationed as an officer in Wiesbaden. The two became closer after initial resistance from Priscilla’s parents.
Priscilla later wrote a book about her love life, which Sofia Coppola then turned into a film. It’s about controlling behavior, manipulation, suspected affairs – but also about a deep connection.
