Princess Kate: She was operated on in this luxury clinic

In a complete surprise, Kensington Palace announced on Wednesday that Princess Kate had to undergo abdominal surgery and would be out until after Easter. The clinic where she was operated on is very popular with the royals.

In the coming weeks, the Royal Family will have to do without two of its most senior members. While King Charles III. has to be treated for an enlarged prostate and will miss some appointments, Princess Kate will even be out until after Easter. On Wednesday, Kensington Palace announced that the wife of heir to the throne William had to undergo planned abdominal surgery. She will stay in the hospital for ten to 14 days.

Kate was treated at London’s The Clinic, a private hospital in the center of the English capital. The late Prince Philip and Princess Margaret, the Queen’s sister, have also been patients there in the past. And with Elizabeth Taylor and John F. Kennedy even Hollywood and the political elite.

Why royals and stars prefer the clinic is obvious: the service there is on a different level. On the clinic’s website, a stay there sounds more like a tourist trip to London than a scary hospital visit. A concierge service is available to those affected who can help “with organizing travel and accommodation, booking tours, theater performances and restaurants”.

In order to heal quickly, patients are also offered a wide selection of food options. According to patient reports, instead of hard brown bread there is sometimes avocado toast; the meat is supplied by the London wholesale market Smithfield Market. “Our catering team, under the guidance of our dietitians, offers you healthy and tasty dishes influenced by many culinary styles,” the website says.

155 treatments can be carried out in the private clinic, everything from minor procedures to cancer treatments. As the “Daily Mail” reported shortly after Kensington Palace’s publication, Kate’s operation was not said to have been a cancer treatment. The newspaper referred to sources within the palace.

“The Princess of Wales is aware of the interest this statement will generate. She hopes the public will be understanding of her desire to maintain as much normality as possible for her children and her desire for their personal medical information remain private,” said Kensington Palace.
