The 27-year-old nephew of the singer, who died in 2009, son of musician Jermaine Jackson, posted the black and white photo on Instagram on Friday with a reference to the impending start of filming, saying that “the journey” would begin on Monday.
The photo shows Jaafar Jackson on tiptoe doing a dance step, silhouetted to the side, in a light-filled room. He is wearing a black hat, similar to the fedora hat Michael Jackson wore during his Victory Tour in 1984.
In cinemas in April 2025
The studios Lionsgate and Universal Pictures recently announced that “Michael” will be released in cinemas worldwide in April 2025. The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua (58, “Training Day”, “The Equalizer”) and the screenplay is by author John Logan (“Gladiator”, “James Bond 007: Specter”). British star producer Graham King (“Bohemian Rhapsody”) and the singer’s family are on board with the project.
According to Lionsgate, the film will shed light on Jackson’s entire life. With hits like “Billie Jean”, “Beat It” and “Thriller”, he was one of the most famous singers in the world. His eccentric lifestyle and allegations of abuse later tarnished his image. The pop star, who appeared on stage with his siblings as a child, died in 2009 at the age of 50.
