Sarah Ferguson: She was diagnosed with skin cancer

Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson (64) is having health problems again after her breast cancer diagnosis and subsequent surgery. “After being diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer in the summer, Sarah, Duchess of York, has now been diagnosed with malignant melanoma,” a spokesperson said in a statement, announcing her skin cancer diagnosis.

After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Ferguson, ex-wife of Prince Andrew (63), immediately underwent a mastectomy at the beginning of July 2023, in which the left breast was removed and surgically reconstructed. According to the spokesperson, the Duchess of York had several moles removed during reconstructive surgery and examined by a dermatologist, with one of the moles identified as cancerous.

She emphasizes the importance of investigations

“The Duchess would like to thank the entire medical team who supported her, especially her dermatologist, whose vigilance ensured that the disease was detected in a timely manner,” the statement continued. Her experience underlines the importance of “checking the size, shape, color and texture, as well as the appearance of new moles, which can be a sign of melanoma.”

The Duchess was being treated in London following her diagnosis and was recovering at a medical health resort in Austria. “She is undergoing further tests to ensure that the disease was detected in its early stages,” her spokesman said. Of course, another diagnosis so soon after breast cancer treatment is “shocking, but the Duchess remains in good spirits.”
