TV star Sofía Vergara speaks openly in an interview about her “gigantic breasts” as a “door opener” for her steep career.
“Modern Family” star Sofía Vergara (51) unpacks: the Colombian speaks openly about the success factors of her global career. She describes her “gigantic breasts” and her “stunning figure” as her initial “door openers” and her “admission ticket to the world”.
Appearance as an entry ticket – then courage and talent
In the newspaper interview, Vergara doesn’t mince words. Rather, the conversation turns into a homage to their optical advantages. Years ago, her looks gave her the opportunity to gain a foothold in Hollywood. At the same time, Vergara attributes her path to success to her acting talent and courage. She is not afraid to take career risks.
Vergara knows how not to take herself too seriously. The best example: the comedy series “Modern Family”, in which she demonstrated her comedy talent between 2009 and 2020. She was nominated for an Emmy for her role as Gloria. But Vergara can also do something different: Netflix fans can already look forward to her newly produced miniseries “Griselda”. In the crime drama she plays the infamous Colombian drug trafficker Griselda Blanco, who was murdered in 2012.
Breakthrough with Pepsi commercial
In the interview with “El Pais,” Vergara looks back on the beginnings of her career. She first became aware of the effect her looks had on others when boys were staring at her in high school. One of her admirers: Joe Gonzalez, whom she married in 1991 when she was 18. The ex-model attracted national attention in Colombia through a commercial for Pepsi. The Latina got her start in Hollywood in 2002 with a supporting role in the comedy “Lots of Trouble” alongside Tim Allen (70) and Rene Russo (69). At that time, her only son Manolo, born in 1991, was already eleven years old and Vergara was divorced from her high school sweetheart Joe, the father of her son.
Setbacks from cancer and divorce
In Hollywood she managed to survive as a single parent for a long time. And then there’s this: In 2000, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, which was successfully treated. A more successful second marriage to fellow actor Joe Manganiello (47) followed. Her marriage to him collapsed because of her husband’s unfulfilled desire to have children. “I wanted to be a grandmother, but I didn’t want to be a mother anymore,” Vergara said. Vergara also apparently dealt with this divorce successfully. And she’s still there: “There are women who are prettier and younger, who have bigger breasts and a better body than me, but I’m still here because I’ve proven that I can stay,” she explains reason for their success. “The worst thing that can happen to me is being told I look ugly or that I can’t act.”
