Epecuen Lake

Villa Epecuen, 520 kilometers from the City of Buenos Airesstands out for its incredible lagoon that is shown between buildings and trees petrified by salt, the result of a flood in 1985 that left the town uninhabited. Initially, in the 1920s, the city was a thriving tourist destination known for its body recovery benefits. However, the flood transformed the city into ruins, which over time became an open-air museum.

Viviana Castro, park ranger of the Laguna Epecuén Natural, Historical and Cultural Reserve, highlights the mission of sharing history and conserving the place, collaborating with scientists, archaeologists and paleontologists in the selection and study of fossils.
