New trailer for “Ghostbusters: Ghost Apocalypse”, the latest from the world of “Ghostbusters”

Today a new trailer was released “Ghostbusters: Ghost Apocalypse”the next film from the popular “Ghostbusters” universe, which will once again feature the protagonists of Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon to give continuity to the revival launched in 2021.

Made by English Gil Kenan -also responsible for the animated “Monster House” (2006) and “Poltergeist” (2015)-, the new installment will open a new chapter for the protagonists of “Ghostbusters: The Legacy”, which two years ago came as the direct sequel to “Ghostbusters 2” (1989) under the direction of Jason Reitman.

What Ghostbusters: Ghost Apocalypse is about

On this occasion, and after discovering his relationship with one of the original ghostbusters, Callie Spengler (Coon) and her children, Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) and Phoebe (McKenna Grace), they return to the place where it all began: the famous New York firehouse where the classic team worked.

There, Gary Grooberson (Rudd) and the remaining members of the group develop a top-secret research laboratory to take ghost hunting to the next level, but when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, everyone must join forces to protect their own. and save the world from a second Ice Age.

In that sense, “Phantom Apocalypse” will feature the participation of the endearing cast made up of Bill Murray like Dr. Peter Venkman, Dan Aykroyd like Dr. Raymond Stantz and Ernie Hudson like Winston Zeddemore, without the presence of the deceased Harold Ramisalthough his figure was honored with a digital recreation for “Ghosbusters: The Legacy.”

In addition, this installment will once again have the actress Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz, the Ghostbusters’ secretary, as well as a cast that includes the well-known Patton Oswalt and Kumail Nanjiani next to William Atherton (“Hard to Kill”), Emily Lind (“Gossip Girl”) and the comedian James Acasteramong more.

Scripted by Kenan and produced by Ivan Reitman -Jason’s father and director of the first two films in the franchise-, the previous film returned to the primary universe more than three decades after “Ghostbusters 2”disregarding the poorly received 2016 “reboot” that featured an all-female lineup of actresses Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.

In that sense, both “The Legacy” and the upcoming “Phantom Apocalypse” propose a continuation of the original plot, and represent the fourth and fifth productions for the big screen in a multimillion-dollar saga that also brings together video games, television series, comics, novels and even amusement parks.
