Christian Bale turns 50 – he is often almost unrecognizable in his roles

Superheroes, sleazy financial jugglers, petty criminals, racing drivers or even the biblical Moses: Christian Bale is considered a quick-change artist in Hollywood. Sometimes he starves himself down to just over 50 kilos, then he fattens himself up to a two-hundred-pound man. And the external appearances are only part of his skills, with which he continues to fascinate the audience. He received numerous awards for his achievements. And his films are often absolute box office hits.

The Oscar and Golden Globe winner was born in Wales: Christian Charles Phillip Bale was born in the small town of Haverfordwest on January 30, 1974. His career began with commercials and quickly picked up speed with his first film roles. Bale was still a teenager then.

Christian Bale – from the British countryside to Hollywood

Bale dropped out of school at the age of 16 and emigrated to the USA with his father at the age of 17. They went to Los Angeles, which would prove to be great luck for his acting career.

Many of the films he starred in were box office hits, such as three Batman films released in theaters over a seven-year period. But Bale doesn’t subscribe to any genre. One of the most impressive roles he has played so far was probably that of Dick Cheney in the 2018 film “Vice”. His transformation with a stomach. Half-bald and a heavily distorted voice were so perfect that Bale was hardly recognizable in this role.
