Kate was in the hospital for 14 days – this is how Prince William fared as a straw widower

For almost two weeks, Prince William had to do without his wife Kate and look after the house, children and dog alone. Of course he receives support – but he doesn’t want to give up the scepter.

Princess Kate was expected to spend between ten and 14 days in the hospital following her abdominal surgery, the palace announced on January 17th. In fact, the Duchess had to stay in the hospital for the maximum amount announced; she was only allowed to leave the hospital again on the 14th day, January 29th. She is now continuing her healing at home with her husband and three children.

Last Monday, the Princess of Wales was picked up at the London Clinic by her assistant Natasha Archer in an SUV, the passenger seat full of get-well gifts. The British royal family immediately released a statement saying that the Princess of Wales had returned to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, was continuing to recover there and was making good progress. The couple also thanked the London Clinic for its care and global well-wishes.

Prince William should be relieved to have his recovering wife by his side again. In her absence, the 41-year-old sat on the throne at home and had his hands full with three children and the family dog, cocker spaniel Dame Orla. So much so that he had all appointments deleted from his calendar. Of course also to support and visit his wife in the hospital.

Kate and William raise the children in a very practical and normal manner

During Kate’s absence, the heir to the throne looked after the three children together with nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo. Royal expert Robert Hardman told People Magazine that he really wanted to get involved as a father and not dump everything on the nanny. The magazine also published that a close confidant said: “The couple does not have a large private staff and William is quite practical. He doesn’t want the next generation to repeat mistakes. He wants to give them a proper upbringing and a lot of love. That’s what’s close to his heart,” the friend said.

Prince William took care of three kids, the household and the dog

He is said to have driven his children George, ten years old, Charlotte, eight years old and Louis, five years old, every day. While the kids were at Lambrook School or with the nanny, Prince William visited his wife or ran errands. The grandparents, Carole and Michael Middleton, are said to have helped out with looking after the three on Sundays. In between, they all chatted with their mother. The children did not visit Kate in the hospital.

Royal journalist Emily Nash in Hello! magazine: “William and Kate are very hands-on parents – they take the children to school, attend sports competitions and concerts and try to be home as often as possible when the kids go to school “Go to bed. While Kate is in the hospital, William will be at home taking care of everything.”

King Charles III’s former butler, Grant Harrold, told the NYPost news portal: Prince William will serve Kate from top to bottom when she returns. “He has a very caring and loving personality, which I often noticed when I spent time with both of them back then. I have no doubt that nothing has changed. William will ensure that Kate is well looked after and that she recovers quickly,” said Harrold.
