Bryan Cranston: Awkward meeting with James Corden

Embarrassing story: When James Corden approached his colleague Bryan Cranston, the “Breaking Bad” star thought he was a waiter.

Embarrassing moment for James Corden (45). When the talk show host and actor met his colleague Bryan Cranston (67) for the first time, he thought he was a waiter. Corden told this anecdote on the TV show “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna,” where he was a guest with “Breaking Bad” star Cranston. In one segment of the show, guests have to tell stories to the hosts, who then have to guess whether they are true or made up. Corden’s story sounded like a lie, but it was true.

Corden had just moved from England to Los Angeles with his future wife. At this point, the two were in the middle of “Breaking Bad” fever and watched the second season together. In a restaurant they met Bryan Cranston, of all people. “To this day, I have never been more impressed by a star than I was at that moment,” Corden said.

“Can I have some more coffee”

James Corden eventually went to Bryan Cranston to introduce himself. “I am an actor from the UK and I just watched your show today. Your performance is incredible,” he said. His US colleague thanked him and then just said: “Can I have more coffee?” Bryan Cranston confirmed the veracity of the story.

From 2015, James Corden hosted the “Late Late Show” on CBS and became a star in the USA. In 2023 he gave up moderation and moved back to Great Britain. He has three children with his wife Julia Carey.

A little anecdote on the side: In 2022, James Corden fell into disrepute when a restaurant in New York called him the “rudest guest in 25 years” on social media. He is said to have used a bad tone towards waiters.
