The Brazilian supermodel with German roots says goodbye to his mother. Vânia Maria Nonnenmacher Bündchen died as a result of cancer in a clinic in Porto Alegre.
Supermodel Gisele Bündchen (43) mourns the death of her mother. “It hurts to know that I can’t hug you anymore, but I know that you will always be there for us,” the Brazilian wrote on Instagram on Tuesday. “You were an angel on earth and always helped everyone around you. I will always cherish the beautiful memories we shared and live by the values you taught me.”
Vânia Maria Nonnenmacher Bündchen died on Sunday as a result of cancer, as the Moinhos de Vento Hospital in Porto Alegre, Brazil, announced on its website. Many major media outlets in Brazil unanimously reported on the death, citing the clinic. The 75-year-old was brought to the clinic on Friday.
Bündchen was born in Brazil in 1980 into a German immigrant family. The father taught at a university, the mother worked at a bank. The birthplace of Horizontina is in the south of the country, where one in five people is of German origin. When Bündchen was 14 years old, she was approached by a modeling agent. Within the next few years, Bündchen catapulted himself onto the cover of international fashion magazines.
