Heino comes to the Vienna Opera Ball. It is his first big appointment after the death of his Hannelore. “Unfortunately” it didn’t work out together.
The musician Heino (85) is coming to the Vienna Opera Ball on February 8th. His manager Helmut Werner (39) announced this on Wednesday. It is a first because at the invitation of German entrepreneur Markus Deussl he will be attending the State Ball for the “very first time”. At the same time, it is Heino’s first major social appearance in public after the death of his long-time wife Hannelore (1942-2023) last fall.
Heino: “I’m happy with one laughing eye and one crying eye”
Heino has mixed feelings about the event. “Hannelore actually wanted to go to the opera ball with me several times, but unfortunately it never happened,” said the pop star. “I am now 85 years old and would like to experience this event,” he adds. And further: “I am grateful to Markus Deussl and Helmut Werner that I can experience this again and I am looking forward to a good time in Vienna, with both a laughing and a crying eye.” The inviting entrepreneur shows understanding: “I would like to see the great folk singer smile again. It’s certainly not an easy time for Heino at the moment, so a little change is a lot of good,” says Deussl.
Hannelore died at the beginning of November
Hannelore Kramm died on November 8th at the age of 82 in her home in Kitzbühel. The couple, who were married for 44 years, met at the Miss Austria pageant in Kitzbühel in 1972 and married in 1979. The sad news of her death reached Heino while he was in Berlin recording a TV show.
It wasn’t until a week later that Hannelore’s death was made public. “Heino and all of us are in deep sadness,” his manager explained at the time. He also explained why the death was not immediately announced: “It was Heino’s express wish to be able to say goodbye to his beloved wife in silence.” Hannelore suffered a so-called death in seconds due to sudden cardiac arrest. Heino consoled himself with the fact that she didn’t have to suffer any pain. The musician has already given a few smaller concerts as part of his church tour, but has recently avoided big performances and red carpets.
