Glenn Close spoke about the special friendship between the deceased actors Christopher Reeve and Robin Williams.
In the documentary Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Storywhich had its world premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival on January 21 in Park City, Utah, Close is one of several interviewees who discuss Reeve’s life and legacy.

“Their friendship, their connection, is the stuff of legend. Not only did it endure, it became a life-giving force that sustained them both,” Close said at the time, as reported by ET News.
“On Friday nights, Chris would literally come in, fly his own plane, pick up Robin, and they would fly away for the weekend,” she added, recalling the summer she and Williams filmed Garp. “On Sunday, late afternoon, Chris would come back and return Robin; I have to say he was a bit worn out.”
Close said she viewed Reeve and Williams as “on top of the world” throughout their decades-long friendship. “They lived the kind of fast and crazy life that our business can bring you if you become a tremendously famous phenomenon, practically overnight.”
Williams, who at age 63 committed suicide in 2014, faced mental health issues throughout his prolific film career. After studying and rooming with Reeve at New York’s Juilliard School starting in 1973, the Oscar winner developed a close friendship with the Superman star.
Reeve died in 2004 of cardiac arrest at age 52.nine years after a spinal cord injury from a horse-riding accident left him paralyzed, wheelchair-bound and dependent on a ventilator to breathe.
