At this year’s People’s Choice Awards, Adam Sandler will be honored with a special award: the comedian will receive the People’s Icon Award.
He has been making viewers laugh for decades, and now comedian Adam Sandler (57) will receive a special honor: Sandler will be honored with the People’s Icon Award at the 49th People’s Choice Awards in mid-February, as the organizers of the event have announced. Stars such as Jennifer Lopez (54), Ryan Reynolds (47) and Jennifer Aniston (54) have been honored with the People’s Icon Award in the past.
“Characters have stood the test of time”
“Adam Sandler has been a fixture in the industry for decades and has been entertaining us since he started on ‘Saturday Night Live’ more than 30 years ago,” said the award’s reasoning. Sandler’s characters like Billy Madison or Mr. Deeds have “passed the test of time and left their mark on audiences for generations.”
The now 57-year-old Sandler, who worked as a stand-up comedian before becoming a film star, is also nominated as “Comedy Film Star of the Year” at the 49th People’s Choice Awards – for his performance in 2023 Comedy “You’re So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah” released on Netflix.
Sandler’s next film, “Spaceman: A Short History of Bohemian Space Travel,” will have its world premiere at this year’s Berlinale and will subsequently also be released on the streaming service Netflix. The 49th People’s Choice Awards will take place on February 18th in Santa Monica, California. Marvel star Simu Liu (34) leads the evening. Musician Lenny Kravitz (59) will receive the Music Icon Award there, as is also already known.
