Paramore became the first band led by a woman to win the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album.
The Tennessee trio took home the award for their 2023 album “This Is Why,” beating out “But Here We Are” from Foo Fighters“Starcatcher” Greta Van Fleet“72 Seasons” by Metallica already Queens of the Stone Age with “In Times New Roman.”
They are now the first band led by a woman to win the award, although soloists previously won it. Alanis Morrissette and Sheryl Crow in the 90’s.
The album’s title track also won Best Alternative Music Performance, bringing Paramore’s total number of Grammy Awards to three. They previously won Best Rock Song for “Ain’t It Fun” in 2015.
The band did not attend the ceremony, but shared a photo of them eating cake at home to celebrate their victory.
