Short war scenes, excerpts from news programs and speeches from politicians: Kilian Kerner used his show to convey a political message: “I want a world in which glitter rules.”
Fashion designer Kilian Kerner used his catwalk at Berlin Fashion Week to send a political message. He showed short war scenes, excerpts from news programs and politicians’ speeches on screens. There were also sequences of half-naked people from a pride parade and videos of last-generation climate protection activists, which were commented on with the words “sexualization” and “hysteria”.
He also mentioned gender-appropriate language in a video – which was overshadowed by the word “constraints”. “Call me a naive idiot, but I want a world where glitter rules,” his voice rang out over the runway speakers.
As announced, the 39-year-old fashion designer then presented his ready-to-wear collection with lots of glitter. As usual, the Cologne native showed a lot of mesh and bare skin of his models.
Balloons on the catwalk at “Glück”
Berlin Fashion Week continues to support Ukrainian designers – on the third day of Fashion Week, the label “Glück” showed more art than wearable clothing on the catwalk. In addition to sequins and artificial nails, outfits also included balloons.
According to the label, the German word happiness means something like “hallucinations” in Ukrainian. Designer Yehor Bashtovenko, who shows haute couture on the runway but also sells party clothes and sweaters online, wore a blue pajama-like two-piece and comfortable-looking purple slippers on the runway.
