What is the origin of pizza
Despite its Italian originthe word pizza comes from Greek “pēktos”what does it mean “solid” or “coagulated”. The base is a dough, generally circular (although it can also be rectangular or any other shape), made with wheat flour, salt, water and yeast.
It is believed that the antecedent is bread that was consumed in the ancient cultures of Egypt, Persia, Greece and Rome. In the period 521-500 BCthe Persian soldiers ate a kind of flat bread in which they put dates and melted cheesethe same as in the Ancient Romewhere the soldiers did the same with a Flat bread who was thrown out olive oil macerated with different herbs.
