The outer esplanade of the Museum of Contemporary Art MARof Mar del Platawill be the place where this Sunday starting at 6 p.m. there will be a sample and tasting of a giant alfajor of 600 kilos in commemoration of 150th anniversary of the “Happy City”.

The event is open to the entire community and locals and tourists are expected to share the making and tasting of this characteristic product of Mar del Plata, made by the Union of Alfajoreros, Confectioners, Pizza and Ice Cream Workers (STARPYH).


The making of the giant alfajor will be in charge of the professor and master pastry chef, Luis Mulvay, who will be accompanied by students and alumni of the Professional Pastry School dependent on STARPYH.
The day will include, starting at 4 p.m., a demonstration of hand-carving fruits by the renowned pastry chef Lito Sanchez, winner of national and international titles in his activity.
This event will be part of the agenda that includes, starting at 8 p.m., an art festival on the southern esplanade of the MAR Museum, where the giant sea lion made by the plastic artist Marta Minujín is located.
