On Saturday night in Valladolid, Spain, a new delivery of the Goya awardsthe most important Spanish-speaking ones in the film industry.
The great news for our country were the distinctions obtained by two Argentines: Matías Recaltwho won the award for best new actor after embodying the character of Roberto Canessaone of the survivors of the Tragedy of the Andesin the award-winning The Snow Societyof Netflix; and the costume designer Julio Suarezwhich won the best costume design for the same movie.
The film about the events of the tragedy of the Uruguayan rugby team in the Andes took 12 awards, including the highest award: best film. In addition, Juan Antonio Bayona won best director; as well as awards for best original music, best art direction, photography and montage editing, among others.

The Argentine actor, who won best new actor for his role in the hit film, The Snow Societygave an emotional speech when accepting the award.
“I want to send a big hug to my country, which is going through a very delicate moment, and please ask that the culture not be stained,” said an emotional Recalt. upon receiving the award, which he also dedicated “to the survivors of the Andes and those who did not return.”
