Prince Harry has a very strained relationship with his stepmother, Queen Camilla. A close confidante of Camilla’s has now revealed how bad this really is.
Last week, dropout Prince Harry jetted from America to Great Britain to be there for King Charles after his public cancer diagnosis. The prince stayed in London for 26 hours, then flew back because he was only allowed 30 minutes to talk to his father. Prince Harry is now seen as a stressor at court, unpredictable and untrustworthy.
Queen Camilla is said to have been the driving force, reports The Sun magazine; she is said to have arranged for the king’s youngest son to only be allowed to speak to his father briefly. It is said that the queen was with the king the whole time, reported royal author Robert Jobson.
A confidante of the Queen, Petronella Wyatt, goes even further in a comment to The Telegraph, claiming that Prince Harry insisted that Camilla leave the room and let him speak to his father alone. The journalist, who has spent a lot of time with Camilla in the past, wrote: “I heard that Harry didn’t want to be in the same room as his stepmother when he spoke to the King about his cancer diagnosis.”
Prince Harry has the drama in his luggage
The royal family’s suspicion that the prince could have drama on his plate and therefore only got a 30-minute audience with the king seems justified. According to palace officials, this was intended to minimize the risk of stress and debates between father and son for health reasons.
The conflict between Prince Harry and Camilla became public at the latest with the publication of his memoirs “Spare”. In the book, he accuses his stepmother of “sacrificing” him in order to rehabilitate and distract from himself in public. “Sacrifice” in this context means intentionally leaking information about Prince Harry to the press. He describes her as an “evil stepmother” and says: “Camilla sacrificed me on her personal PR altar.”
Camilla was once the mistress of Prince Charles while he was still married to Princess Diana, Prince Harry’s late mother. The 39-year-old blames his mother’s successor for their unhappy marriage. After her death, Charles and Camilla officially got together. The sons Prince William and Prince Harry are said to have been against the marriage. However, William is said to have made peace with the connection – Prince Harry apparently has not, even almost 19 years after their marriage in April 2005. He still considers them “dangerous.”
