The sea and around the island of Brac shimmers turquoise blue in the “Croatian crime thriller” (today, 8:15 p.m., ARD), which anchors oppressively close to the present: human trafficking of refugee women and forced prostitution are the abysses into which the episode delves. The arrogance of two young human rights activists, including the son of the “island sheriff”, leads investigators Stascha (Jasmin Gerat) and Emil (Lenn Kurdrjawizki) onto the trail of two murdered women – which means that a father-son drama is rocking on the waves, and one at that Relationship drama (to say goodbye to actress Sarah Bauerett from the crime series). The end of the young love between the pathologist and the inspector drowns in the pathos of separation.

With its wealth of topics, the episode resembles a cruise that turns into too many bays, hoisting its sails for civil courage and human dignity for refugees instead of cold anonymity. That alone would have given the episode enough wind. The heartbreak could easily have been thrown overboard.
