Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan caused a stir this week with the launch of their new website. Traditionalist royal fans in particular felt snubbed by the design of the site and the URL sussex.com. Apparently the two continue to use their titles, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, to market their own interests.
It was indecent to use their titles even though they had turned their backs on royal life, said the tabloid press, which doesn’t mean well towards the two of them anyway.

What also offends critics: Meghan and Harry also changed their children’s last names. Archie and Lilibet are no longer called Mountbatten-Windsor, but also Sussex. The surname Mountbatten-Windsor has actually been specified for the descendants of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip since 1960. The reason was Philip’s discomfort at not being able to pass on his Mountbatten name to his children. Before the Queen officially announced in 1960 that the descendants would have a double name, they were only supposed to have her name, Windsor.
