“Paisaje” by Matías Rojo, with Dady Brieva, was released; “Entremedio”, by Martín Gamaler, with Omar Sánchez, and the documentary filmed in Chascomús “Los Bilbao”, by Pedro Speroni.
Daddy Brieva composes an interesting character, a little “politically incorrect”, in “Paisaje”, a Mendoza film shot on the outskirts of Uspallata. There a couple – him, unprepared, and her pregnant and in a bad mood – goes off the road, then their car stops, night falls and they are not always going to meet friendly people. The funny thing is that they are fleeing from some kind people but with whom they have no vibes, the girl’s in-laws.

That’s where the character of Brieva comes in, a paterfamilias who takes his sons on a surprise horseback excursion to hunt wild boars, he tortures the son who asks him for money without the possibility of returning it, and, yes, he is attentive and when the potatoes burn he comes to the rescue with the Gendarmerie. The woman also cares about the boys (and she just happens to get a hard-headed vegan daughter-in-law). Director, Matías Rojo, the one from “Some days without music”, this time with a script by playwright Pablo Longo.

It is also interesting, but in a very different landscape, “Entremedio”, filmed in the suburbs of City Bell and Villa Elisa, near La Plata. In this case it is the evocation of a childhood day, perhaps the last day of childhood, of a boy who has lost his dog, or rather his dog, the only pleasant and calm company in the face of parents who love him but do not get along and live arguing. There is a separation, irreparable losses, an old man resigned sentimentally and brave in the face of the jets (Omar Sánchez, in a special performance) and a scene worthy of “Police in Action”: In the middle of a procedure in front of two armed attackers, the woman intervenes to demand that the police stop that and look for her son, who was ordered to move without warning. Director, Martín Gamaler, along the lines of Campusano and Condrón. Music by Francisco Caminos, worthy of recording (but dispensable songs).
Finally, there is the documentary “Los Bilbao”, by Pedro Speroni, filmed in Chascomús. In his previous work, “Rancho”, this documentary filmmaker had recorded the daily life of detainees in a maximum security prison. Now the reintegration and family consolidation efforts of one of them continue, having already served his sentence. and determined to start a new life, as far as possible. At least he has an honest job, a family that loves him well and a sport through which he channels his energies, boxing. His name is Iván Bilbao, and he was once a Buenos Aires champion. We’ll see how that story goes, maybe there will be a third part.
