Actress Amy Schumer defends herself against body shaming

Amy Schumer’s fans have recently repeatedly pointed out the actress’s “swollen face.” In an Instagram post, she defends herself against gossip – and uses the opportunity to make a strong statement.

Amy Schumer (42) announced the second season of her TV show “Life and Beth” on Instagram – and took this opportunity to contradict her critics. Schumer, who has been the topic of conversation lately because of her “puffy face,” writes: “…and thank you all so much for all the opinions about my face! Like all women, I have enjoyed feedback and discussions about my appearance for almost 20 years Years.”

Schumer then explains that she suffers from the autoimmune disease endometriosis and that there are “some medical and hormonal things” going on in her world, but she is doing well.

“Women don’t owe anyone an apology”

Schumer also points out that women’s bodies are much less medically researched compared to men’s. She then advocates “that a woman does not owe anyone an apology or an explanation for her appearance.” Like any other woman or person, she would feel “confident and good as hell” on some days and want to pull a bag over her head on others. “But I feel strong and beautiful and I’m so proud of this TV show that I created,” says Schumer, returning to her actual concern.

In the comedy series with the German title “Beth and Life” (Disney+), Schumer plays a wine merchant in Manhattan who changes her life completely. She took on the lead role, directed the film and wrote the script. Schumer also points to this achievement in her post and asks: “Maybe, just maybe, we can focus on this a little.”

Amy Schumer made her endometriosis public in 2021. Because of the disease, in which the uterine lining grows abnormally outside the uterine cavity, she had to have her uterus and appendix removed.
