A series of animated short films aimed at children and a space to experience chess games will take place on weekends in February in the library of the C3 Cultural Science Center, located in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo.

Today and tomorrow, from 5 to 6 p.m., animated shorts will be shown that allow us to imagine inclusive possible worlds, for boys and girls from 10 years old, in the month of Girls and Women in Science, by Cartón, International Animated Short Festival.

Among the different short films, visitors will be able to access “Panchito y los Colores”, by Venezuelan Ramón Vega. It is an unpainted drawing that, when it comes to life, will search for his own identity in a world where blue and pink drawings discriminate against him for being different.

The Iranian short film “Anima”, by Mahboobeh Mohammadzaki, addresses a story where someone has struggled to accept the differences in the world around them. It is the story of someone who is different from other people in society and shows his internal conflicts to accept these differences.

From France comes the short “Ah les Crocodiles”, by five directors who thought up a story where a girl is released into the universe of a pop-up book directed by a crocodile who will not hesitate to have discriminatory behavior against women.

The short film “1325 Kilometers 227 Days”, by Brazilians Gustavo de Almeida and Vitor Teixeira, addresses the story that the directors created from their personal experience. Vítor and Gustavo decided in January 2020 to have a long-distance relationship. The idea, in principle, was to meet every few months, but COVID changed the plans. This is the story of how they overcame distance and time through love and, mainly, WhatsApp voice messages.

“A Wallet”, by Chilean Daniela Miranda, proposes to reflect on the irrationality of attacks against the LGBITQA+ community, based on the wallet as an accessory and gender identifier in the course of history.

Meanwhile, “Dancefloor With Friends”, by the French Julie Robert and Juliette Peuportier, proposes an invitation to free oneself from the burden of the way in which society leads people to despise themselves and their bodies.

Along the same lines, the short “Muñeca Rota”, by Argentine Gaspar Aguirre, tells the story of a young teenager who is going through a crisis due to his self-image and external pressure on how he should be.

In the C3 library, the public of all ages can enjoy more than 2,650 books and magazines specialized in science, in genres such as comics, novels, essays and short stories, and collective reading activities and creative expression are periodically offered. and screenings in a relaxed atmosphere to delve into the scientific world.

In addition, in the library you can request science readings for children, adolescents and young people produced within the framework of “Read Science. “Read Future.” They are free to distribute and are part of the Ciencia al Toque youth collection and the Hola, Ciencia children’s collection, and are signed by Silvia Schujer, Franco Vaccarini, Laura Escudero Tobler and Matías Aldaz, among others.

This cultural space also offers, on Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25, from 2 to 7 p.m., the Quaternity Station activity will be offered on the second floor, a space dedicated to experiencing the evolution of traditional chess in which four participants face each other. the time.

In this space intended for children over six years old, there will be spontaneous games to learn, practice and play, led by Doris Friedemann, Anael Cantilo, and the expert chess player, Eneas Luna Singer.

The Cultural Center of Science is located at Godoy Cruz 2270, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo.
