When Claudia Schiffer compares the life of a model today with that of her wedding, she notices clear differences. And there’s a reason for that.
From the perspective of supermodel Claudia Schiffer (53), models can show much more of their personality these days. Thanks to digital media and e-commerce, models have completely different options, said Schiffer in an interview with “Vogue” (March issue). “They have the power and control over their own images, their voices and their values, which I admire,” Schiffer continued.
In her time, models would have had to do a lot of interviews or be on a magazine cover to show who they were. International audiences are also much easier to reach through social media.
According to Schiffer, this is both a blessing and a curse. In the 90s, models had a lot more privacy, today you have to be constantly present to keep up. “You could switch off completely and take a little break and do other things in peace. Social media makes that impossible today,” Schiffer continued.
