Theater: friendly prices arrive in Buenos Aires

After a theater season in Mar del Plata that had 30% growth in the number of tickets sold thanks to the “friendly prices”, Carlos Rottemberg confirmed to Ambit which will replicate the strategy in Buenos Aires in its Multiteatro and Multitabaris Comafi theaters. It is expected that, as in “la Feliz”, other theater owners and producers will join the action.

Although there were fewer vacationers in the Mar del Plata plaza than last year and in sales units all products and activities decreased, the only exception was the theater, which remained 30% higher in the number of tickets sold despite the drop in tourism, eloquent data against the grain of the recession.

The initiative will last a month, to begin with, from February 20 to March 19, and the cost will be absorbed by the production, which will try to maintain good attendance in theaters in critical times of inflation and the first cut being entertainment and recreation. The famous Rottemberg equation in which a ticket to the theater was equivalent to 15 coffees on Corrientes Street, is currently modified to 8 coffees, taking the entrance fee to 15 thousand pesos.

The producer highlighted that “the initiative that I proposed in October of last year ended up giving empathy” based on keeping the price of his tickets in the range of 8 thousand to 12 thousand pesos for Mar del Plata, and that for CABA they will amount to 15 thousand . “In December I already declared that we were selling more than last year, and that meant that we have not touched prices throughout the summer,” the producer explained to this newspaper.

In this way and for at least a month the tickets in these theaters will be closer to those of the independent theater, whose prices range from 6 thousand to 10 thousand pesos, depending on the play and the room. For example, the sixth season of “Late el corazón de un perro”, by Franco Verdoia, offers tickets between 6 thousand and 9 thousand pesos or “If you come out alive”, directed by Sebastián Suñe with Karina Hernández in Nun costs between 7 thousand and 10 thousand.

The confirmed works that will have these prices because they belong to the Multis Comafi are “The Force of Affection”, with Soledad Silveyra, Osvaldo Laport and others; “Brujas”, with Nora Carpena and Moria Casán, among others; “Coqueluche”, with Betiana Blum and Mónica Villa; “Toc Toc”, with Ernesto Claudio and Diego Pérez; “The Wonderful Things,” with Andy Kusnetzoff; “Tom, Dick and Harry”, with Mariano Martinez and Bicho Gomez; “Made in Lanus”, with Malena Solda and Alberto Ajaka, among others; “Escape room”, with Benja Rojas and Brenda Gandini, among others and “Piaf”, with Elena Roger, at the Liceo.

Other highlights on the bill are “The heart of damage”, with Marilú Marini at the Picadero, “The funeral of the objects”, at Paseo La Plaza; “Tootsie”, with Nico Vázquez at Lola Mambrives; “Othelo”, by Gabriel Chame Buendia, at the Metropolitan and “Antígona in the bathroom”, with Verónica Llinás at the Astral.

In March, the premiere of “Reverso” by Matías Feldman and its arrival in the commercial theater with a work starring Carla Peterson, Marco Antonio Caponi and Nico García Hume, among others, and “Better not to say it”, with Mercedes Morán and Imanol Arias, directed by Claudio Tolcachir on Paseo La Plaza.
