Mark Hoppus: Chemotherapy seems to be working

Blink 182 singer Mark Hoppus announced his cancer at the end of June. Now he is giving his fans “the best possible news”.

Blink 182 front man Mark Hoppus (49) is currently fighting cancer. The musician keeps his fans up to date on his treatment on Twitter. In one of his 2.7 million followers on Monday (July 19), he wrote: “The scans indicate that the chemotherapy is working.” He still has months of treatments ahead of him, but it is “the best possible news”.

He said he was grateful and confused and felt bad after last week’s chemo. “But the poison the doctors pump into me and the kind thoughts and desires of the people destroy this cancer. I’ll just keep fighting,” he continued.

Cancer known since the end of June

On June 24th, Hoppus made his cancer public. “For three months I have been undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. I have cancer,” he wrote on social media at the time. “It’s terrible and I’m scared, and at the same time, I’ve been blessed with incredible doctors, family and friends to get me through this.” For the rest of his therapy he wants to remain “hopeful and positive”.
