Horst Naumann was one of TV’s favorites for many years. As a doctor, he gained a wide television audience in the ZDF series “Die Schwarzwaldklinik” and “Das Traumschiff”. Now the actor has died.
Fans of the cult series “The Dream Ship” will remember him well: from 1986 to 2010, Horst Naumann played the ship’s doctor Dr. Horst Schröder. In previous years he had already appeared as a guest actor. Naumann appeared alongside Heide Keller (head hostess Beatrice von Ledebur) and Siegfried Rauch (captain Jakob Paulsen) in the ZDF series. Horst Naumann’s first marriage was to the actress Christa von Arvedi. She died in 2003 after 49 years of marriage. He married his second wife Martina Linn-Naumann in 2010 at the age of 84. He moved from Munich to the Ruhr area for her. Martina Linn-Naumann is the director of the Duisburg cabaret theater “The Pillar”. The couple met there in 2006.
In 2010, Naumann commented on the age difference of almost 35 years in the magazine “Frau im Spiegel” with the words: “With Martina, a stroke of luck occurred for me that I had never expected. Naumann was born in Dresden in 1925 and, after training as an actor, he appeared in several major DEFA productions. In 1958 he fled the GDR and moved to Munich. Naumann became best known for his appearances in the ZDF series “The Black Forest Clinic” and “The Dream Ship”.
Naumann stated in an interview with the in 2020 that he had to quit as a ship’s doctor star as “kicked out for reasons of age”. His successor was the actor Nick Wilder, and the ship’s doctor is now played by Collien Ulmen-Fernandes.
In addition to his career in front of the camera, Naumann also worked as a voice actor, recorded radio plays and organized readings. Even in old age, retirement was out of the question for him. “Stop? I’m not thinking about it!” he said in 2020 star.
