Understanding Taylor Swift: Museum seeks all-knowing Swiftie

A British museum is looking for five experts – including the “most learned Swiftie”, a huge Taylor Swift fan. The house wants to better understand current trends and prepare for future exhibitions.

Taylor Swift is a mass phenomenon. Wherever the US singer performs, incredible crowds of fans come together. This may all seem a bit strange to outsiders, but one can no longer deny this phenomenon’s cultural relevance.

Museum is looking for learned Swiftie

London’s Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) is apparently very aware of this. The company is currently looking for five so-called superfan advisors, including one who has the best possible knowledge of Taylor Swift.

However, the person you are looking for cannot look forward to a high-paying full-time job. The advertisement states: “The successful candidates will meet with curatorial experts from the V&A, share knowledge about their area of expertise, learn about the history and why they are important to art, design and the future of creativity. The candidates will also have the opportunity to go behind the scenes at the V&A and see relevant objects from the collection.”

The Taylor Swift superfan doesn’t get any money

As for wages, it says somewhat curtly: “The V&A will cover reasonable travel expenses to the museum for the curator meeting and successful applicants will receive V&A membership as part of the position.” According to the homepage, the annual membership in question has an equivalent value of 90 euros; people under 26 would only pay 59 euros.

But the advisory position certainly doesn’t look bad on young people’s CVs. The museum is one of the most famous addresses in London and enjoys an excellent reputation. It houses the largest collection of decorative arts and design in the world.

It’s not just Swifties who have the chance to help the museum’s curators. Superfans are also wanted in the Crocs, Drag, Emoji and Tuften areas.
