The SAG Awards took place in Los Angeles on Sunday night. The awards, which are presented by the Screen Actors Guild, are seen as important precursors to the Oscars on March 10th.
Among other things, Christopher Nolan’s film “Oppenheimer” received an award, underlining his position as an Oscar favorite. Lead actor Cillian Murphy received a trophy, as did supporting actor Robert Downey Jr. The biopic also won the ensemble award for the entire cast.
The SAG trophy for best actress went to Lily Gladstone for “Killers of the Flower Moon.” She beat out Margot Robbie (“Barbie”) and Emma Stone (“Poor Things”), among others, and is now also considered an Oscar candidate. Barbra Streisand received the honorary award for her life’s work, which was celebrated with a standing ovation.
