The film studio Paramount Pictures announced the film with Liam Neeson in the lead role on Wednesday (local time) for July 2025, as reported by the US media ABC News, “Variety” and “The Hollywood Reporter”.

Born in Northern Ireland, Neeson (71, “Taken”) takes on the star role of the scatterbrained police officer Frank Drebin, who was made famous by Leslie Nielsen, who died in 2010. Former “Saturday Night Live” author Akiva Schaffer (46) is responsible for the direction and script.
MacFarlane as producer
“Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane (50) is on board as a producer. The three films “The Naked Cannon”, “The Naked Cannon 21⁄2” and “The Naked Cannon 331⁄3” were released from 1988 to 1994. In addition to Nielsen, Priscilla Presley and former American football player OJ Simpson also starred in it.
