British Royals: Prince William in the pub with Rob McElhenney

Prince William is considered a football fan with sympathy for underdogs. During a visit to Wales he receives an honorary jersey from fourth division club AFC Wrexham.

On the Welsh national holiday, St. David’s Day, the British heir to the throne, Prince William (41), treated himself to a drink in the pub of the AFC Wrexham football club together with US actor Rob McElhenney.

The Prince of Wales, as William’s official title is, was told about the club’s recent success, which was promoted to the fourth English league after being taken over by McElhenney (46) and Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds (47). The eldest son of King Charles III. also met players and staff and received his own jersey with the number 9 and his name.

William spent the day without wife Princess Kate, who is recovering from abdominal surgery. After there was recent speculation on social media about the health of the future queen, whose exact diagnosis is not known, the palace emphasized again that the 42-year-old was still doing well. As announced weeks ago, Kate will not be attending any appointments until after Easter.
