Chris Evans says Marvel deserves more credit for some of its movies

The actor was part of a convention, and there he also revealed what his favorite Marvel movie is.

Chris Evans made a recent appearance at Emerald City Con 2024 and supported comic book movies, a genre he will always be associated with after playing Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for almost 10 years.

“Comic book movies in general, for whatever reason, don’t always get the credit that I think they deserve,” Evans told the audience.

“They are these big, giant movies. There are many cooks in the kitchen. But the empirical evidence is there: they are not easy to do. If it were easier, there would be many more good ones. I’m not throwing shade! I have been part of some that were lost. Happens. Making a movie is difficult. More cooks in the kitchen doesn’t make it easier. I don’t want to highlight specific movies from Marvel’s catalog but some of them are phenomenal. “I like independent, objectively great films and I think they deserve a little more credit.”

What is Chris Evans’ favorite Marvel movie?

Evans highlighted “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” of 2014 as his favorite Marvel movie. The film marked his second solo appearance as Captain America.

“It’s my favorite Marvel movie I’ve been a part of. It’s not just for the movie itself but for the experience,” she said. “In the first film I was very nervous. You know what you’re getting into, and as a result, you’re playing defense and you’re playing not to lose. When ‘Winter Solider’ came out, we were playing to win. And it’s the first movie with the Russo brothers. We were taking more risks and the character felt more developed. “It was one of the most satisfying experiences I have had in my career at Marvel.”

Evans exited the Marvel Cinematic Universe after 2019’s “Endgame.” Speaking at the C2E2 fan convention in Chicago last year, he said a possible return of Captain America “doesn’t feel quite right” right now. However, Evans admitted that he finds it appealing to tell more Captain America stories, so never say never.

“Avengers: Endgame” ended with Evans’ Steve Rogers giving Captain America’s shield to Sam Wilson/Falcon Anthony Mackie. The series of Disney+ “Falcón and the Winter Soldier” focused on Sam as he comes to terms with what it means to become the new Captain America. Sam accepted the challenge, and the upcoming Marvel movie, “Captain America: Brave New World,” will find Mackie and Sam Wilson front and center as the new Captain America.
