Roberto Blanco comes out as a fan of SC Freiburg. As such, he has a message for his coach Christian Streich.
A few months ago, Christian Streich (58) indicated that he felt his strength dwindling. The SC Freiburg coach was no longer sure that his energy would still reach the players. A noble fan of the Bundesliga club can’t leave that alone: pop star Roberto Blanco (86) wants to encourage the tired coach to persevere. “Dear Christian Streich, I heard that you might want to retire,” said the singer
“Please don’t do this to us! Look, I’m 86 years old and I’m still going strong. You still have enough time. Everyone wants you to stay, so stick with it!” said the entertainer. Roberto Blanco even invites Christian Streich so that he can recharge his batteries.
“If you want to clear your head, then come to my theater in Winterthur, Switzerland. I’ve already saved the front row for you,” he said. Blanco is on stage in Winterthur for the theater adaptation of the French comedy film “Monsieur Claude and his Daughters”.
This is how Roberto Blanco became a Freiburg fan
Roberto Blanco, previously known more as a tennis fan than as a supporter of SC Freiburg? The pop star took a liking to the Baden club through his manager. Jöran Steinsiek (45) regularly accompanies the club to games as the head of a PR agency.
“Oh Freiburg, what a great city, what a great team and what a great coach,” enthuses Blanco. “I also think the stadium is great. And of course the surroundings with their good wine,” said the Swiss resident.
The statement to which Roberto Blanco refers was made by Christian Streich in the football magazine “11 Freunde” in October 2023. “I feel that I’m getting older. My strength is dwindling, it’s just foreseeable,” said the longest-serving Bundesliga coach. “If I realize that it’s no longer enough and that someone younger is needed to get to the players, I’ll stop,” he announced.
The cult coach has now put these statements into perspective again and blamed it on the bad mood after a lost game.
