With gold-plated chocolate Oscars and meat pie: star chef Wolfgang Puck spoils the stars at the 2024 Oscars.
On the night of March 11th it’s that time again, when the Oscars will be awarded for the 96th time at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. The Austrian-born Wolfgang Puck (74) takes care of the physical well-being of the Hollywood elite. For the 30th time, the star chef is preparing the menu for the “Governor’s Ball”, the official after-show party of the Oscars. Puck only has the best in store for Hollywood stars: including champagne, chocolate cigars and mini Oscars made of 24-carat gold.
Meat pie and gold-plated chocolate Oscars: This is what the stars and starlets eat
“The only celebratory drink is champagne,” reveals Alexis Blondel, assistant cellar master, in an interview with the Los Angeles-based . But it’s not just any champagne, but the brand “Fleur de Miraval”, the first champagne that was brought onto the market by Hollywood star Brad Pitt (60).
When it comes to food, Puck relies on “a wide variety of traditional innovations,” including the star favorite: Potpie, a meat pie made with chicken and vegetables wrapped in crispy puff pastry. In addition, the stars and starlets are served an exquisite selection of wines, because “excellence in human culture” cannot be celebrated “without good food and good wine.”
In addition to the pie, the Hollywood elite can look forward to various oven-fresh pizza creations, mini Wagyu burgers and Puck’s trademark, an edible Oscar sculpture made from smoked salmon. The star chef also uses vegetarian and vegan variants in his creations, including vegan sashim.
The menu for the 96th Academy Awards is rounded off with a creative selection of desserts. “We really combined and brought together a lot of really fun, unique ideas to really make this ‘our Oscars,'” reveals head pastry chef Ellen Maloney. Among other things, chocolate cigars and mini Oscar statues made of chocolate covered in 24-carat gold will be presented.
These stars are expected at the “Governors Ball”.
But not all filmmakers will be able to enjoy Puck’s creations. Access to the “Governors Ball” is only reserved for the biggest stars and nominees. Among those expected are “Ken” actor Ryan Gosling (43) and “Anatomy of a Case” star Sandra Hülser (45).
