He plays drums for the Britpop band Blur. Now Dave Rowntree wants to set the pace in the British Parliament.
The drummer of the British band Blur, Dave Rowntree, wants to enter parliament for the opposition Labor party in the next election. “I’m absolutely thrilled to have been chosen as the @uklabour candidate for Mid Sussex!” he wrote on Instagram and on X (formerly Twitter). “Now the work begins.”
The British must elect a new parliament by January 2025 at the latest; an exact date has not yet been set. The constituency mentioned by Rowntree is currently in the hands of the Conservative Party, which also forms the government with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Britpop band Blur released new music last year for the first time in several years. The album “The Ballad Of Darren” was released in the summer. Rowntree, who has previously stood for the House of Commons, also released a solo album called Radio Songs last year.
