Former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher is putting an end to the rumor mill. A comeback of the cult band is becoming a long way off.
Fans will probably have to wait a little longer for the hoped-for comeback of the British cult band Oasis. As now reported, ex-Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher (51) has initially rejected all speculation about a possible comeback of the British pop band. The dispute with brother and ex-Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher (56), which has been going on for a good 15 years, does not seem to have ended: “I haven’t spoken to him for about ten years, since 2009 I think,” says Liam Gallagher.
It was only at the end of February that rumors about a possible reunion of the cult band of the 1990s began circulating, after Gallagher asserted that all it would take was a tiny gesture from his big brother for him to overlook previous rivalries. And Noel Gallagher, who ultimately broke up the band in 2009, is also said to have expressed his willingness to discuss a possible reunion, according to the tabloid magazine. The only problem, according to the older of the two Gallagher brothers, is that “Liam hasn’t called yet.”
Sibling disputes led to the band breaking up
With hits like “Wonderwall” (1995) and “Don’t Look Back in Anger”, the British pop band Oasis quickly became one of the most successful cult bands of the 1990s. To date, the band has sold around 80 million records and received numerous awards, including four Brit Awards and three MTV Europe Music Awards. The band split up in 2009 following an argument between the Gallagher brothers.
