Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, J.K. Simmons and Cynthia Addai-Robinson They have closed agreements to return in “The Accountant 2”the sequel to the action thriller directed by Gavin O’Connor “The Accountant”in which Amazon MGM Studios has partnered with Affleck’s Artists Equity and Matt Damon.

Also returning will be O’Connor, who directs from a script written by the original film’s screenwriter, Bill Dubuque. Artists Equity is acting as the studio for the sequel and set up the film at Amazon MGM after acquiring the rights to the sequel from Warner Bros. This will be the companies’ fourth project together following the documentary Jennifer Lopez, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, which topped the charts. The world-nominated sports marketing drama air and the next Unstoppablebased on the true story of the fighter Anthony Robles.

Grossing $155 million worldwide upon its theatrical release in 2016 before becoming the highest-rented digital film the following year, “Counter” starred Affleck as a highly qualified CPA with autism who leads a double life as a forensic accountant for criminal organizations. When the protagonist discovers discrepancies at a legitimate robotics company, he must navigate a dangerous web of deception while staying one step ahead of both the law and his criminal clients.

Bernthal played Christian’s security company operator brother Brax, and Simmons played Ray King, the director of the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network. Addai-Robinson took on the role of Marybeth Medina, a promising Treasury agent tasked with uncovering the Accountant’s true identity.

What will the second part of “The Accountant” be about?

The plot of the sequel is set in motion when Medina’s former boss is murdered by unknown assassins and she is forced to contact Christian to solve the murder. With the help of his estranged but deadly brother Brax, Chris applies his brilliant mind and his illegitimate methods to piece together the unsolved puzzle. As they get closer to the truth, the trio attracts the attention of some of the world’s most ruthless killers, all determined to end their search.

Affleck and Damon are producing for Artists Equity, along with Lynette Howell Taylor and Mark Williams by 51Entertainment. Executive producers include Dani Bernfeld, Kevin Halloran, Michael Joe and Alison Winter of Artists Equity. Additionally, Scott Lastaiti and Jamie Patricof serve as executive producers.
