Many believe that the name Sky du Mont is a stage name. But that’s really the name of the actor who lives in Hamburg. That is, almost.
The actor and author Sky du Mont (76, “The Shoe of Manitu”) has a slightly ironic relationship to his name. “When I came to Germany in my youth, my colleagues in theater and television probably thought that my real name was Adolf Shitte and that I had therefore given myself a pseudonym. Because that really sounds like a half-witted guy who found himself in St. Pauli makes a name,” du Mont told the German Press Agency in Hamburg.
The star, who was born in South America and grew up in England and Switzerland and whose full last name is Neven DuMont, told us again how his unusual first name came about. “My parents actually wanted to name me Cay, but in Argentina at that time you had to use a Latin name. So they decided on Cayetano because it can be shortened.
When my mother, who was English, came out of the clinic with me, my big brother asked, ‘who is that?’. And she replied, ‘this is Cay’ – whereupon he called me Sky from then on.” His full name is Marco Claudio Cayetano Neven du Mont.
The actor who lives in the Hanseatic city, who also achieved fame as a best-selling author (“Ungeschönt” 2022), has written another book called “I’m looking forward to tomorrow. Because it’s going to be like it’s never been before.” will be published by Herder on March 11th. In it he makes a light-hearted plea for a positive attitude to life.
