What is “Poor Creatures” about?
From the director Yorgos Lanthimos and producer Emma Stone, comes the incredible story and fantastic evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman who is approached by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe) brings him back to life. Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Eager for the experience she lacks, Bella runs away with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a cunning and libertine lawyer, on a dizzying adventure across continents. Freed from the prejudices of her time, Bella grows firm in her purpose to defend equality and liberation.

Based on the book by Alasdair Graythe script was written by Tony McNamara, this being the second collaboration between Lanthimos and McNamara (The favourite). The film was produced by Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma Stone.
