Actress Emily Blunt didn’t win the Oscar, but instead there are controversial headlines about her dress. Blunt’s stylist now vehemently defends the look on Instagram.
The drama “Oppenheimer” was the big winner at this year’s Oscars. Director Christopher Nolan’s film won seven of the coveted awards. The crew also included actress Emily Blunt, who was nominated for best supporting actress. It was the first Oscar nomination for the 41-year-old. Even though Blunt didn’t end up receiving the trophy, she still made headlines for the outfit she showed off on the red carpet.
Oscars 2024: Emily Blunt wears Schiaparelli gown
The Brit wore a shimmering gold couture gown from the Schiaparelli label. What was special about it were the stiff straps that seemed to float over Blunt’s shoulders – and a hint of slip in the hip area. Details that sparked controversy among one of Blunt’s stylist, Jessica Paster. While many followers praised the look as “stunning”, “stunning” or “unique”, there were others who posted derogatory comments about the outfit. Statements that stylist Paster did not leave uncommented.

Burst dress, baby bump and lots of silver: the looks from the 2024 Oscars
“The contour of the underwear ruins the whole dress,” wrote one user. To which Paster replied: “Because you have absolutely no good taste.” Another comment read: “I think the dress is just too cool for her. And the glam didn’t help.” The stylist remarked, “I didn’t see you on the red carpet.” A third user wrote that she was just a mere mortal who didn’t go to such glamorous events, but in her opinion the outfit was a mistake. She called the hint of underpants on the front “ridiculous.” Jessica Paster wrote that as a “mere mortal” she shouldn’t comment on things she has no idea about. “This is a designer piece and not a Walmart item!!!” Another follower called her a “cow.”
Jessica Paster and Emily Blunt have worked together for almost 20 years. The actress had several designer dresses at her disposal for the Oscars; Blunt consciously chose the Schiaparelli gown. “She loved it. It’s the dress that spoke to her the most,” Paster told Vanity Fair magazine. Paster expected that there would be a controversy about the look. “Did I know people would talk about shoulders? Yes, of course. Do I care what others say about it? Absolutely not,” said the fashion expert.
