Wife about Fritz Wepper’s condition: “It’s a miracle that he survived”

Actor Fritz Wepper (82) is recovering from a serious illness in a hospice. His wife Susanne Kellermann (49) told the magazine “Bunte” that her husband had “severe sepsis, which he almost didn’t survive because his artificial heart valve also became inflamed.” She added: “In his condition and age they couldn’t operate on him, they tried to get it under control with antibiotics. The fact that he survived is a miracle! Fritz is weak, but he feels well and has no pain.”

In the hospice, Wepper is recovering “very well” thanks to the rest, as Kellermann explains. He has really blossomed in the last few days. “Fritz lives in the here and now and accepts things as they are without complaining,” says his wife. “He’s calm. When you ask him how he’s doing, he doesn’t say bad. My husband didn’t notice how critical things were for him recently, which is comforting!”

Brother Elmar’s death took him “very seriously”

Fritz Wepper’s wife also explained that his brother’s death last year had a big impact: “It affected him so much that his immune system collapsed.” Actor Elmar Wepper (1944-2023) died at the end of October 2023 at the age of 79.

Susanne Kellermann, with whom Fritz Wepper has a twelve-year-old daughter, continued to tell “Bunte” that it was important for her to make it clear “that Fritz is not dying. That could be the case any day, but at the moment we don’t fear it and hope for even more Time together. And when the time comes, I hope I can be with him.”

Fritz Wepper has been known as an actor since the 1950s. He celebrated great successes with the series “Derrick”, “For Heaven’s Sake” and the crime series “Murder in the Best Company”, among others.
