Munn said in the post that she was diagnosed in February 2023 after testing negative for the BRCA gene, a mutation commonly linked to breast cancer. Despite the negative test, her OB-GYN determined that she had a 37% lifetime risk of having breast cancer and therefore advised Munn to undergo an MRI and biopsy. .
“Two months later I was diagnosed with breast cancer,” Munn wrote. “We caught it early enough for him to have options,” she wrote. “I want the same for any woman who has to face this one day.”
Munn thanked her boyfriend John Mulaney, with whom he shares a son named Malcolm; friends who have had it or have related it to other people with breast cancer; and the nurses, patient coordinators and staff at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and Sain’t John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, including surgical oncologist Dr. Armando Giuliano, reconstructive surgeon Dr. Jay Orringer, oncologist Dr. Monica Mita and her “guardian angel” Dr. Alibadi.
