Blümchen became a mother for the first time in autumn 2022. However, the singer didn’t allow herself a long break.
“Heart to Heart”, “Boomerang” and “Little Satellite (Beep, Beep)”: With these dance tracks, Jasmin Wagner (43), better known as Blümchen, has immortalized herself in German music history. Maybe the next hit will come along now: the singer is back with a solo single after collaborating with other artists. “Raver Girl”, which will be released on March 15th, also features Blümchen’s typical power sound.
As the Hamburg native reveals in an interview with the news agency spot on news, her music career is far from over. After forays into acting and as a presenter (most recently she presented the Sat.1 afternoon show “Volles Haus! Sat.1 Live”), she now says: “Music is clearly the focus in 2024!” And that’s apparently not a problem for her, even despite her one-year-old daughter.
How would you describe your new song?
Blümchen: Old school Blümchen meets new school. The musical collaborations with Finch and Domiziana have shaped and influenced me. A song full of positive energy that is exciting and moving.
What makes a “raver girl” – and are you one yourself?
Blümchen: Absolutely, yes, raven connects, opens the heart and lets you be fully in the moment. We’re currently experiencing a ’90s revival in fashion and music.
What do you think are the reasons for this?
Blümchen: nostalgia and escapism. The 90s were a very interesting, diverse and individual decade. Sounds like mine are captivating and invite you to just let the beat take you along and have fun. We all need a break from our duties and everyday problems.
You are now married and a mother. How does this influence your work?
Blümchen: Actually, not particularly. There is simply a new way of organizing everything. You grow into it. Life in general just makes me even more happy because I get to spend every day with this great little person.
Can you imagine dealing with the topic of motherhood in a song?
Blümchen: Actually, yes, I have already sketched out a song that has the theme of motherhood. The process is just super exciting. If I make an album, I would definitely see the song on there.
How much does your little daughter get out of your job? For example, does she attend concerts?
Blümchen: On the last summer festival tour, the entire family actually went on the tour bus. Those were nice trips. Sometimes the hotel was close to a zoo, sometimes there was a swimming lake nearby. A little adventure every time. Everything is simply planned with more time and breaks and that has been really good for the entire team.
How does the little one like your music?
Blümchen: When my girl hears “Ravergirl,” her little hands go up and she grooves along. Nobody taught her that. She just feels the song. But she also really likes country and old school hip hop.
What else can your fans look forward to this year?
Blümchen: To my new festival tour, which is also called “Ravergirl” and other own songs and collaborations. Music is clearly the focus in 2024!
You were also active as a presenter and actress. Is there anything else planned in this direction?
Blümchen: No. They were wonderful years in the theater and in front of the camera that taught me a lot and absolutely enriched my life. But after ten years of being directed by others, I really enjoy being the director of my own artistic work.
