South Korean “Squid Game” star Oh Yeong-su has been found guilty of sexual misconduct in his home country.
The well-known South Korean actor Oh Yeong-su (79) has been convicted of sexual misconduct in his home country. This is reported from South Korea’s capital Seoul. Oh, who played player number “001” in the Netflix series “Squid Game,” was found guilty of “indecent assault” by a South Korean court and given an eight-month suspended sentence.
“Squid Game” star is said to have kissed woman on the cheek
In addition, the actor, who became the first South Korean ever to receive a Golden Globe Award for his performance in “Squid Game,” was required to take part in a 40-hour treatment program for sex offenders. According to media reports, Oh plans to appeal the verdict.
The Netflix star was found guilty by a district judge in Seongnam, a city southeast of Seoul, of inappropriately hugging the plaintiff, an actress who remains anonymous, in 2017. He also allegedly held her hand, kissed her cheek and lay down in her room, possibly making inappropriate sexual comments.
Oh is not involved in the second season of the Netflix series “Squid Game” – still the world’s most successful program – and has lost acting engagements in South Korea since 2022, when the charges against him were announced.
